Did you know? I speak Greek fluently and I performed in an ethnic Greek Dance Group between the ages 13-18.
I became a Physical Therapist because I knew that I wanted to help people get back to living their lives independently. To give them the ability to walk without an assistive device, to take care of their kids, to be able to sit thru a meeting at work; to do all of these things and to do them without discomfort or limitations. Initially in my professional career as an Athletic Trainer it was helping high school athletes get back onto the playing field. As I was introduced to the general population, I realized the enjoyment and importance of helping people get their day to day lives back.
I thoroughly enjoy the social aspect of my profession. We meet different people of all ages, from different backgrounds. I enjoy listening and talking to people; and I believe by making their Physical Therapy visits more sociable and enjoyable, patients are more likely to be compliant with their attendance. I also enjoy the educational component of my job. The ability to describe to patients what is occurring anatomically and physiologically with their injury, gives them an understanding of how we are going to correct the problem.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my lovely wife Laura, our beautiful daughter Katelyn and our adventurous comfort retriever Sammy. I also take timeout to golf and have recently started running again. Goals for 2010 are to run the Broad Street Run for the second time and to run my first half marathon.
Angelo Labrinakos is co-owner and co-founder of Kinetic Physical Therapy, and has been with the company since its inception in 2006. He currently holds the position of treasurer and is also the Director of Athletic Training Services.
